4th: A walk round Lac de Montriond...
...with an ice cream halfway round, then a swim in the lake.5th: Taking the easy way up a mountain: A telecabin, then a chair lift, took us all the way to the top of Mont Chery.
We walked down, stopping to admire the flowers and grasshoppers, then took the telecabine back down to Les Gets.
6th: An early start for a quick run up the nearby via ferrata with Mark & Dave before breakfast. Including "walking the plank" with just a wire to hold on to, and a lot of air beneath your feet.
View of Mont Blanc:
We were staying in a village called L'Abbaye, which was named after this abbey.
Gorges du Pont du Diable (Devil's Bridge)
8th: Another cheat's way up a mountain. This time we drove up to Avoriaz, walked down, and got the chairlift back up (in the rain).
9th: The next generation of Explorers have a go at rock climbing.
The crag even had a baby via ferrata for the kids to try. Emily spent the rest of the holiday asking if she could have a go on the big one.
10th: A solo early morning ride round the valley...
...followed by a family epic. We chose a nice gentle ride, which didn't seem to have many contours on the map. How wrong could we be. Pushed our bikes up the first hill, set off on the first flat bit, and Emily promptly fell off and gouged her knee on a rock! She battled on, but the cycling didn't get any easier. Even most of the downhills were too steep for us to ride.
The grown-ups took it in turns to have evening climbing sessions at the crag.
