Sep-Nov 19

1st Sep: Charlotte's birthday treat was a family "Escape room" on a Sherlock Holmes theme.
22nd: Shorter hill-climbs of just over 1 minute are definitely not my speciality. This one hurt!
27th: A low-key birthday for Emily.
12th Oct: Racing against the national champion at the Holme Moss hill climb.

Meanwhile Megan has got a road bike (or two)
27th Oct: This year's National Hill Climb Championship suited me as it was on a long course, at Haytor in Devon. The winning time was 11:37, I managed 14:43, and was 3rd in my age category (45-49).

29th Oct: Taunton

9th Nov: Peak District cloud inversion.
10th Nov: Remembrance day walk up Great Gable.

30th Nov: Another great result at the cross country.

Aug 19

17th: Family ride to Ringinglow.
18th: Scrambly walk up Wildboar Clough.
24th: With the older girls away on guide camp, Pete & Megan enjoyed a hot bank holiday camping weekend at Grizedale, starting with a walk up Coniston Old Man.

25th: Pete's birthday walk for once involved no summits, but rather an adventurous scramble up Stickle Ghyll. We started too late for the planned extension up Jack's Rake, which would have been an unpleasant experience as had we been there earlier we would have witnessed someone sadly falling off the cliff - a sobering thought.

An unfortunate slip from this rope-swing left its mark - us Lauds scar easily!
26th: Holme Fell
27th: Junior Go Ape at Grizedale Forest.

28th: The rest of the family joined us for the rest of the week in a cottage in Windermere.

29th: Unfortunately the weather took a turn for the worse, making for challenging conditions for kayaking on Windermere. It took us 40 minutes paddling against the wind to reach the island, and 10 only minutes to get back!
30th: Rediscovering fell-running on the Fairfield horseshoe. Not many views though.
It turns out we had stayed in exactly the same cottage at Easter six years ago.
31st: For the last day, having 2 cars gave us the flexibility for Emily & Mum to go home while the rest of us bagged another Wainwright: Troutbeck Tongue.

Jul 19

11th: A 3-second PB at the Sheffrec time trial
13th: Going Ape at Sherwood Pines with Emily.

16th: Reading challenge prize: a bean-bag for the school.
24th: Westward Ho!

28th: Taunton.
