Sep-Oct 2020

Sep 2020: With the CLO Alps trip cancelled, a smaller group ventured to Shap for a week of cycling around Forest of Bowland, the Lakes and North Pennines.

16th: Emily spent 2 weeks in hospital in Liverpool after having part of her tibia removed. Charlotte spent some time sightseeing in between visits.

20th: Extending our Rivelin lockdown walk route down to the river.
All grown up! Emily was released from hospital just in time to enjoy her birthday at home.

4th Oct: Many cycling events were cancelled this year but the Tan Hill hill-climb went ahead, and a strong Easterly wind produced some very fast times. I managed 34 mins, 3 mins faster than last year.

17th: Taunton.

25th: Exploring the Sheffield canal.

26th: Bake-off inspired chocolate babka

Jul-Aug 2020

4th July: Pizza-making

26 Jul - 2Aug: Summer holiday in Keswick. Starting with some late-night housework, as the cottage hadn't been cleaned ready for our arrival.

28th: Grey Knotts & Brandreth from Honister.

Honister slate.

29th: Eel Crag from Stair.

We didn't fancy descending the ridge below, so Wandope would wait for another day.

Very well deserved ice creams!
30th: Paddling on Derwentwater.

31st: On the hottest day of the year, we aimed high, for an ascent of Skiddaw. With no breeze, we were enticed into a shady gully to walk up the cooling stream. Unfortunately when the stream became too steep this turned into an "epic" climb through painful scratchy heather, which took so long we ran out of time to reach the top.

Lonscale Fell.

Skiddaw Little Man.

1st Aug: The Puzzling Place.

followed by an afternoon stroll up Castle Crag.

2nd: Departure day, and the shortest "Fell walk" in the book, Little Mell Fell. At the time we thought this was Katie's 100th Wainwright. (Later discovered I'd mis-counted and she's actually on 101.)
On the way home - an ascent (by bike) of the highest road in England, to the top of Great Dun Fell.

4th: Harlow Carr Gardens

6th: View from a cycle ride round Sheffield.
7th: Another hot day, so we pre-booked our parking spot for a "beach" day at Chatsworth, with some treasure-hunting in the river.

28th: Conisborough Castle with Amy

31st: No bank holiday weekend camping trip this year, but the weather forecast for the Monday was irresistible, so Pete & Megan went for a day trip to climb Helvellyn via Striding Edge.
