May 2011

15th:  A train ride to Manchester to watch Jess Ennis and Andy Turner running down Deansgate in the rain.

21st: Explorers camping in Sherwood Forest - the newly-formed cycling division stop for a lunch break

Back at the campsite, which we had all to ourselves.  All mod cons, including everything you need to build your own wind shelter for the barbecue.

22nd: The girls' (including Charlotte's!) cycling skills progressed even further with a windy 5-mile circuit at Clumber Park.

Daddy let Megan try some of his ice-cream, but then she wouldn't let him have it back!

Apr-May 2011 long weekends

23rd Apr:  Easter outing to Brodsworth Hall

We arrived home to find pea-sized hailstones everywhere and shredded plants

30th: Coniston fell race. http://www.sportsunday.co.uk/photo9772508.html

1st May: A route-finding expedition in preparation for the Borrowdale race in August.
Looking down Borrowdale from Seathwaite Fell
View down Wasdale from Great Gable (a bit wonky due to the gale force winds)
 Scafell Pike from Gable
 Buttermere from Brandreth

2nd May: A cycling expedition around Chatsworth.  Katie's first proper bike ride, from Baslow to Calton Lees and back (7km).  Stopping for a well-deserved ice-cream at halfway.

April 2011 (pt1)

Megan's first tooth, and watching the football with Katie
 Napping with cuddle bear
A Mother's Day visit to the cousins

9th-16th April: Anglesey.
10th: Cemaes.  Sharon, Dave & Dylan come ashore from their yacht (not really!)
Megan loved the sandy beach and soon learned to keep it out of her mouth

As seen later, Megan wasn't put off by her first dunk in the sea

 11th: Borthwen

 12th: Red Wharf Bay

 Beaumaris Castle

The hot-tub at the cottage was a big hit

13th: One rainy day in the whole week gave us an opportunity to visit the 'Sea Zoo'

15th: Church Bay, where Megan got really stuck in to the seaside experience

16th: The obligatory family shot outside the cottage, complete with hot-tub
On the way home we made a detour for Pete to compete in the Y Moelwyn fell race at Blaenau Ffestiniog. 3000ft of climb over 9 miles, in 1h46.
